We Like Visitors… What Might You Find?
Coming through the community of Macleay from the West on Macleay Rd. pass by Macleay Inn on your right. Then take the next right and park in front of the two buildings beyond the Fire Station. If stairs are difficult for you, follow the sidewalk between those buildings and you will find a ramp that enters through the back of our church. Otherwise entering the front door around 10:00 AM is a good place to start.

As you enter Macleay Bible Church you will likely find a community of people from many walks of life, who enjoy each other and join together to worship God. Some will be chatting, getting to know each other better. Others may be encouraging one another in light of a hard journey. Still others making plans to get together during the week to help bear someone’s burden or just hang out. You have stepped into our Fellowship Hall. Coffee will be perking and tea available for those of us who like a warm mug as we talk. Restrooms are in the back entryway beyond the fellowship hall.

As it gets closer to 10:15 you will see chairs in the room to your left where people are finding seats. Families who would like their small children to be able to use the playroom during t
he service may want to sit toward the back. Those who have trouble hearing may want to sit toward the front or request a personal hearing amplifier.

Our service is simple yet intentional and runs about an hour. After the announcements we may read a passage from the Bible together. Then we sing hymns and spiritual songs accompanied by piano. We have an open sharing time of short prayer requests and thank God for some of His kindnesses we have recognized of the past week. Then one or more people will pray.

Most of our time is then spent learning from God as we respectfully study His Word together. We avoid ‘topical’ studies or repackaging the world’s wisdom as if it comes from God. Rather we start with the Bible carefully trying to understand what each verse in context meant to the original hearers. Then ponder how those truths should guide our lives, in our context, today. We close by asking God for help to do that.

What follows is more of what we started with. An informal wave of talking and caring for one another. Maybe more coffee. Maybe more informal encouragement or prayer. Maybe some kids bouncing around sharing their artwork… And Children of God a little more equipped to face the week in front of them, leaving when they are ready.

You will also find on certain Sundays…
We end our gatherings on the first Sunday of each month sharing The Lord’s Table together. We practice open communion, in that no formal membership is expected. But we do encourage any who are not sure they are trusting in the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus for their personal relationship with God to just observe and not partake of the meal. On the second Sunday of each month we share a potluck meal together after the service in the Fellowship Hall. If you happen to forget to bring something, please stay and eat with us anyway. We have plenty to share.
